Healthy Smoothie Bowls

I am SO EXCITED to be introducing my new love for the summer, SMOOTHIE BOWLS!  Like many of you, I was waking up in the morning, having my smoothie along with an additional oatmeal or granola and yogurt to fill my belly.  I was getting B-O-R-E-D.  Then I thought, why not combine them?  They are easy, delicious, and beautiful to look at (not to mention a little more filling than your basic smoothies in the A.M.)  Enjoy as a breakfast or snack!

CONCEPT

Combine any of your favourite smoothies in a bowl, and add any combination of fruit, nuts, seeds, granola, and oats.  As an added boost, add flax seeds, chia, maca, and your choice of Vegan protein powder. Sprinkle with coconut (if you like), and drizzle with raw, organic honey to sweeten.

Here is one of my favourite recipes:

INGREDIENTS:

For the Smoothie

  • Base: 1.5 cups Cashew Milk (or other milk alternative: Almond, Rice, Coconut, Hemp)
  • 1/4 can Condensed Coconut Milk
  • handful Spinach or Kale
  • 1 cup frozen raspberries
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tsp Maca root powder
  • 1 scoop Vegan Protein Powder (I like HEMP).

Toppings

  • 1/2 banana sliced
  • 2 tbsp flax seeds
  • 1 cup granola
  • fresh blueberries
  • coconut
  • drizzle with honey
